Computerized Manufacturing Technicians work at automated manufacturing and industrial sites. Positions include mechanical, maintenance, electrical, quality control, computer, process, and manufacturing technicians. MECC’s training for entry-level positions in computerized manufacturing includes computer-aided manufacturing, programmable logic controllers, robotics, blueprint reading, computer-aided drafting, and manual mills and lathes.
Electromechanical Technicians are trained in all facets of automation for employment in chemical companies, power plants, coal preparation plants, etc.

Employers want manufacturing and electromechanical employees who:

  • Have math and technical skills.
  • Have good communication skills.
  • Have problem-solving skills.
  • Have a team-player attitude.

Start with a Certificate

MECC’s one-year Maintenance certificate program provides entry-level technical skills for the increasingly complex systems which maintain today’s facilities.

Degrees

Graduates in MECC’s Computerized Manufacturing and Electromechanical Technology programs receive an Associate in Applied Science degree.

Employment Outlook / Advancement

Computerization in the workplace has created a demand for skilled and knowledgeable workers. Individuals who display leadership and team-building skills, self-confidence, motivation, and decisiveness can rise within the industry.

Salary

Entry-level salaries range from $22,000 - $34,000. Salaries for experienced employees go to $40,000 regionally and $60,000 nationally.

Internship Opportunities

Luke Mullins MECC has developed internship opportunities with Eastman Chemical in electromechanical and Toyota in computerized manufacturing.
The first five interns with Eastman enrolled in the fall of 2006 in this new program. Jesse Wilson, pictured left, Zachary Berry, Matthew Dotson, Brent Maness and Andrew Williams completed a year of studies in the program at MECC, passed a jobs skills assessment test, interviewed successfully with Eastman, and began their internship in the summer of 2007.
